Ancient Arts Fiber Camp
Session 1: July 8 - 12
Session 2: August 5 - 9
M-F, 9am - 3pm, $300/week
-
Ancient Arts Fiber Camp is for youth 8-11 years old. The focus is on fiber arts with materials directly from nature - "wild chemistry" for natural dyeing with whole plants and leaf printing on fabric, wool felting, rock drop spindles, and spider weaving (circular looms).
-
Crafts are whole-process, not just "finish work", and designed to match students' level of hand skills and focus. Many materials are harvested on-site from our gardens.
-
Free choice activities take place on our patio shaded by a squash vine arbor, in our treehouse, in the shade of the fig tree, or in our green open space.
-
Rest time can also happen on the shaded patio, in the treehouse, under the fig tree, or in our bean cave.
-
Daily story time, the transition into rest time, features picture books related to the themes of Ancient Arts Fiber Camp - young people engaging with the natural world in a creative and mutually-beneficial way.
